Numbah! Norman

Studying war and tank stuff for upcoming part and I ended up on Fury again. Steven Price’s soundtrack has this theme that keeps surfacing; that fully unfurls with Norman. What a cracker. What a film. Do not watch with snacks.

Numbah! I Need A Win

“though this player’s going nowhere
there’s no giving in
I need an angel on my shoulder
Somebody watching over”

What I love about this one: the lyrics speak about the struggles of life and yet the vibe these artists deliver, to my ear, is distinctly uplifting – it’s super groovy and signals resilience and staying the course despite life’s challenges. Also loving the retro styling. Thanks Mamas Gun.

Numbah! I’m Your Man

“Listen, I don’t need you to care
I don’t need you to understand, yeah
All I want is for you to be there
And when I’m turned on, if you want me
I’m your man”

Just devoured Chris Smith’s Wham! documentary on Netflix. I was an 80’s kid and we had Wham’s The Final (vinyl record!) at home. I’ve always loved George and Andrew’s songs – so many luminous numbers – I’m Your Man is up there with my other favourites: Club Tropicana, Everything She Wants, If You Were There and one of the best intros (ever) on Young Guns.

80’s Luminosity 🤩 Andrew Ridgeley and George Michael in Club Tropicana, 1983.

Numbah! Fleur Bleue

What I love about this one: the smooth jazzyness over the joyful bass rhythm; the catchy brass signature; the ever-changing movements – like secret doors opening up to unexpected passages and grooves.
